Mindfulness - breath to help thoughts move through and out of your mind

Transcript:

This mindfulness practice using the concept of opening your awareness to include the breath to help thoughts move through and out of your mind:

1. Find a quiet and comfortable space where you can sit or lie down without distractions.

2. Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths, focusing on the sensation of the breath entering and leaving your body.

3. Begin to bring your awareness to your breath. Notice the rise and fall of your chest or the sensation of the air passing through your nostrils.

4. As thoughts arise in your mind, instead of getting caught up in them, gently shift your focus back to your breath. Allow the thoughts to move through and out of your mind with the movement of your breath.

5. With each inhale, imagine breathing in a sense of calm and clarity. With each exhale, imagine releasing any tension or distractions that may be present in your mind.

6. As you continue to focus on your breath, notice how the thoughts begin to lose their grip on your attention and simply flow through your awareness.

7. If you find yourself getting carried away by a particular thought, gently guide your attention back to the rhythm of your breath, using it as an anchor to stay present in the moment.

8. Allow yourself to fully immerse in this practice for 10 minutes, letting the breath be a gentle guide for the movement of thoughts through and out of your mind.

9. After 10 minutes, take a few more deep breaths and slowly open your eyes. Notice how you feel after practicing this mindfulness exercise.

Remember, mindfulness is a practice that can be cultivated over time. By incorporating the breath as a tool to help thoughts flow through and out of your mind, you can cultivate a sense of peace and presence in your daily life. Enjoy the benefits of this practice and the clarity it brings to your mind.
